Arthritis Care

Wear and Tear (Osteoarthritis)

The commonest joint issue in wear and tear as a result of time, use and sometimes specific injury or mechanical and postural factors.

Large joint degeneration can be debilitating and ultimately require surgery but many things can be tried before that including:

  • Directed physiotherapy
  • Postural realignment and Podiatry
  • Steroid Injections
  • Regenerative injections – a rapidly emerging field
  • Joint Interventional Pain Management – Radiofrequency pulse and denervation techniques to control pain where surgery is not an option

Immune and inflammatory Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis, SLE, Psoriatic Arthritis and Gout are typical examples of this range of diseases. All Rheumatologists should know how to manage these diseases but experience always helps, especially is unusual or subtle presentations.

At all times Arthritis care is a partnership.  I am the expert in the disease but you are the expert in you. The key is to find the therapy and strategy that fits you.

Access to advice and ready replies are also important for the small things and challenges. Since I am full time in private practice I can offer that support. Likewise, small refinements like my use of online-prescribing and medication delivery services make life easier when things are already difficult.
